PiHead Tracker 2.0 is out
PiHead Tracker 2.0 is out. Since 1.0 we've reworked almost every part of the app. If the app is running, the update will appear in the top bar within a few minutes. To install it manually, use the download page.
Settings for every game
Response curves let you shape how each axis behaves with the mouse; for example, you can soften movement near the center and speed it up towards the edges. Save these settings as a profile per game. When a game starts, the app picks its profile by itself and returns to Default when the game closes. You can also export profiles to a file and use them on another computer.
Drift fades out by itself
We added auto recenter to remove the small drift that builds up over long sessions. While you look near the center, the app very slowly pulls the center towards your view direction; it stays out of the way when you check a mirror or look over your shoulder. When a game connects to head tracking, the view is centered automatically too. We explain why drift happens in this article.
Without taking your hands off the controls
Besides a keyboard shortcut, you can assign recenter and pause to any button or hat direction on a joystick, HOTAS or wheel. Because you can't see the app while the game is in full screen, these actions play a short sound; you also hear a different sound when the device connects or the cable comes out.
Easy to see and understand
- The live view shows a headset-wearing head model that turns with your head.
- The Support Assistant checks the connection, the sensor and the game, and shows the problem and its fix.
- A colored dot on the tray icon shows the connection status.
- The app is available in English and Turkish; the user guide opens offline from inside the app.
Other changes
- The app and the device firmware update themselves, and the device is verified as genuine.
- Games that use the FreeTrack protocol are supported.
- The experimental neck model also sends the natural position change of your head as it turns. It's off by default; if you try it, we'd love to hear how it works in your games.
- The app can run in the system tray and start with Windows.
